Josh Rouse - Country Mouse, City House (2007)

What the label says:
Country Mouse, City House is the seventh full-length album by Josh Rouse, and the second on his own Bedroom Classics label (via Nettwerk). It was written and recorded in Spain and mixed in Nashville. Utilising a full band, it has a bigger, richer sound than his 2006 Subtitulo release, using some funky organ sounds and horn parts similar to his pure perfection of an album, 1972.

The title was conceived during a 70 mile walk through the north of Spain and is in part inspired by Aesop’s tale ‘Country Mouse and the City Mouse’ and partly because it rhymes with Josh’s own surname. “My sound is still 70’s singer/songwriter. That’s my favorite style of music, so that’s what I do. I, and many of the people I work with, am obsessed with the sound and production of the 60’s and 70’s. Put simply, it just has something that a lot of modern records don’t have. Perhaps it’s being in the moment, and Country Mouse, City House is just that, a really great moment.”
